Today Xiaomi has made one of the biggest announcement of their, today company has announced that they have partnered with Foxconn in India and launches Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime in India, Amazon has accidentally listed this smartphone on their page, but today company has officially announced this smartphone in India. Xiaomi has also said that all units of Redmi 2 Prime which will be sold in India will be manufactured in this plant which is in Andhra Pradesh.
This is the second manufacturing facility which company has set up outside its home country, China, first is in Brazil. Redmi 2 Prime will be available across all Xiaomi partners like Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal in open sale, this is very rare thing which Xiaomi is doing as we have not seen company has put any of its newly launched device in open sale as of now.
Redmi 2 Prime is essentially the same variant which was launched in China as Redmi 2 Limited, and then launched in Singapore with the name of Redmi 2 Enhanced. This Redmi 2 Prime basically got double the RAM and double the internal storage as compared with Redmi 2 which company has launched earlier this year in India.
Rest of the specs remains the same Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime flaunts an 4.7-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display which is protected by Asahi Dragontrail glass, under the hood it is powered by a Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be further expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card slot.
When it comes to photography front, Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime an 8-megapixel auto focus rear snapper with LED flash, and there is an 2-megapixel selfie camera up front, it houses an 2,200mAh battery to which company claims is good enough for 14 hours of talktime, for connectivity it include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and when it to software front, it runs on Android KitKat 4.4.4 which is wrapped under company’s own MIUI 6.
