As expected Samsung has announced its Galaxy S Tab in its Galaxy Premiere 2014 event held in New York. This tablet will be available in two variant, differ by its screen size and its battery. These are the first tablet in Samsung’s portfolio which comes with WQXGA Super AMOLED screen.
As per specs, Samsung Galaxy Tab S comes in two screen size 10.5 inch which has 2560×1600 pixels screen resolution, means 288ppi and the other one has 8.4 inch variant with same 2560×1600 pixels screen resolution, means 359ppi. Both has Super AMOLED display screen.
Under the hood its powered by either 1.3GHz Exynos 5 octa-core chipset which will have quad-core 1.9GHz Cortex A15 cores and quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores or 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset, depending upon market suitable variant will be launched. It will be coupled by 3GB of RAM.
At back it features a 8-megapixel rear camera which can record videos at 1080p, at front it has a 2.1-megapixel camera. Both tablet comes with 16/32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
As per software it runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat wrapped under Samsung’s UI. It do comes preloaded with apps like Milk Audio, Papergarden, Samsung WatchON and Sidesync 3.0 among others. It also features Apple’s iOS 8 like continuity feature which allows you to answer calls from tablet after you sync it with your Samsung Phone.
Both tablets are identical and just differs in screen size and battery, 10.5 inch tablet has 7,900mAh battery, while the 8.4 inch one houses 4,900mAh battery. Both tablet also include fingerprint scanner on its home button which was included in Samsung Galaxy S5.
Both tablets will be available in select markets from June 26 and prices start from $399 for the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and $499 for the Galaxy Tab S 10.5.
