Its always said that Microsoft is not able to make money from its Windows Phone platform, now as today Microsoft has acquired Nokia it becomes clear how much Microsoft makes from licensing Windows Phone platform to Nokia, HTC, Samsung and others.
As per Microsoft presentation which they revealed today it clearly states that it makes less than $10 per unit of royalty gross margin, and on top of this Microsoft also pays platform support fee to Nokia and helps in marketing of Windows Phone.
Now after this acquisition Microsoft claims that it will make more than $40 of gross margin per unit. Microsoft also claims that its operation income will break even point when the device units shipments cross 50 millions.
