Indian smartphone market is already overcrowded and the budget segment is getting tougher and tougher to survive as every brand wants to capture this segment at its max because this is easy to target and this is the segment in which buyers are spending most. Coolpad recently decided to target this segment as well and launched Coolpad Cool 3 Plus (Review), which was a decent smartphone at that price point. Now company has came up with another smartphone, the Coolpad Cool 5 which is again a mid range smartphone but does this smartphone keep the justice with its price, let see.
Build And Design Of Coolpad Cool 5 –
Lets start from the build and design of Coolpad Cool 5, it is something which we had liked on Cool 3, and here too company has decided to got it poly-carbonate back body which seems nice, however its glossy and finger print magnet as well but there is a transparent back cover inside the box which you can use.

Hardware And Specs Of Coolpad Cool 5 –
As told earlier, this is an entry level smartphone which comes with mid range specs, it flaunts a 6.22 inches display HD+ display with a waterdrop notch, under the hood, it is powered by MediaTek MT6762 Helio P22 SoC, which is a quad core processor clocked at 2.0GHz along with 4GB of RAM and comes with 64GB of internal storage which can be further expandable via micro SD card.
For camera, at rear you will find dual camera setup of 13MP+2MP snappers along with LED flash, and a 16MP front facing camera for selfie.
Display Of Coolpad Cool 5 –
Coolpad Cool 5 flaunts a 6.22-inch screen which is a TFT IPS panel, and has HD+ (1520×720 pixels) resolution. The overall color accuracy and viewing angle are decent, even outdoor visibility is good too.

As told earlier, Coolpad Cool 5 comes with dual camera setup of 13MP+2MP snappers along with LED, there is a main sensor while secondary is the depth sensor on this device, and at the front you will find a 16MP selfie camera as well.
Camera app is very simple to use, its more or less which we had seen on most of the MediaTek powered devices, it comes with some modes like beauty, bokeh, and faceCute modes.
Camera click some decent images in good lighting but it does misses details, and when it comes to low light, it do struggle which most of the device in this price tag does.
Secondary camera does well most of the time, it do clicks nice portrait images and separates main and background stuffs. On the other hand, front camera also clicks good selfie images.
Performance Of Coolpad Cool 5 –
Coolpad Cool 5 comes with mid range SoC, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, on paper specs seems fine but on day to day usage it can handle your most of the tasks, but doing multi tasking is bit issue, once you open certain number of app it takes time to switch between apps.
On the other hand, gaming is fine on this smartphone, we play NFS Asphalt and PUBG Lite on this smartphone and it was smooth.
Finger print sensor on this smartphone is very much accurate and it does supports face unlock which works pretty well most of the time.
Final Verdict On Coolpad Cool 5 –
Company has launched Coolpad cool 5 launched in India with a price tag of Rs 7,999, at this price tag it does justice to it, but the main concern here is the camera, but apart from this most the things are right the place.
