Day by day gaming market all around the globe is increasing at faster rate, nowadays many people are looking toward gaming consoles like Microsoft XBox or Sony PlayStation which provide you next level of gaming experience but on the other hand there are some guys who wants to enjoy games and wants to take benefit of their PC as well and for this they look for gaming PC. If anyone says about gaming PC then the first thought which hits my mind is of Dell Alienware which are heavy and specially gaming built laptops and desktops. But Dell Alienware is not the along player in the market.
In past we had reviewed Asus G551J Republic Of Gamer laptop and today we have another device under the same series, the Asus G20 Republic Of Gamer desktop which Asus has announced couple of month back and finally we got our hands dirty on this system to try how it perform.
Built And Design Of Asus Republic of Gamers G20 :-
Asus ROG G20 is one of the smallest gaming PC which you can find in market, but dont go to its small size, its a small-form-factor device which comes with intricate patterns embedded on its surface which looks cool, the design of its chasing is also unique but again it also looks quite nice.
Asus has provided multiple lighting zones on various parts of the chasing and it can be control by inbuilt app available on the system, this app can apply different color schemes and shading to colors which comes out of chasing from various parts and if you play games in dark then it gives a nice effect.
If we talk about ports of the system then at front it has got a power button at top which is followed by a DVD RW drive placed vertically, well I was wondering why they hasnt included a Blu Ray drive, just below your DVD drive you will find two USB 3.0 ports and below them you have ports for your headphone and microphone.
When you turn your PC and take a look at back side then you will find almost all ports which you ever require, you have four USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, then you have a Ethernet port, a set of six audio ports for 8-channel surround sound, two HDMI ports, one is placed on Nvidia GTX 760 graphic card while other on inbuilt graphic card, you also get two DVIs port and a Display Port. To get this beast running you have two ports, yes you need to attach two power ports in it.
Overall the built quality of this system is very good, despite of being packed with lots of high end specs, it is very light weight and small device which can be placed in small area very easily.
Hardware And Specs of Asus Republic of Gamers G20 :-
If we talk about under the hood features of Asus ROG G20, then it has got ASUS G20AJ (H97) motherboard, powered by quad-core Intel Core i7 clocked at 3.6GHz along with 8GB of DDR3 RAM which can be upgradable up to 16GB, comes with Seagate Desktop SSHD 1TB. For connectivity it has got WiFi 802.11ac & Bluetooth 4.0.
To support all your graphic needs, it has got 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 graphic card. Overall we can say that it has got some high end hardware specs which ensures you will be able to play latest games on it.
SOFTWARE AND UI of Asus Republic of Gamers G20 :-
Asus ROG G20 runs on Windows 8.1 edition, so if you had used Windows 8 earlier then you are not going to find anything extra here. UI is nice and comes with all Windows 8 features, however Asus has installed some of its apps on it so that you can take your gaming experience to next level.
There are bunch of apps which comes preloaded on this device, like it comes with GameFirst II, its the first app which launches itself on first boot and place a widget on your desktop, if you play online games then its the one app which you must check out, it delivers smart cFosSpeed network traffic shaping technology that cuts your pings and latency with background data packet inspection, which ultimately means you will get better online gaming and VoIP team-chat.
Next tool which is worth checking out is Asus Command which comes with some options which are helpful in different situations.
The first option is Power, here you can manage power profiles and you can disable or enable Ai Charger II which lets you charge your USB devices at faster rate from two USB ports present at the front side.
In Update section you will be able to update your Asus ROG G20 drivers or you can also update Asus software’s which are present on your system by default.
When I saw Security option I think it must have some Anti-Virus or firewall but when I clicked, it only shows your browser history and some more stuffs.
In Backup And Restore section you will be able to take backup of your Windows at current state, it take backup by using Windows System Restore point.
In Tools menu you will be able to go directly to your boot menu and change values if you want, here you can also change the lighting scheme of your device.
Keyboard And Mouse of Asus Republic of Gamers G20 :-
This is the section which disappoints me alot, as its a gaming PC I was hoping for some gaming keyboard and mice which comes bundled in the box, but to my surprise, both keyboard and mouse are the ordinary and not even the wireless one.
Keyboard is good for typing long emails and documents but I am sure Asus doesnt wants its users to use this device for office work, I tried to play games with keyboard and it responded OKAY OKAY for me, same goes with mouse.
Noise And Heat on Asus Republic of Gamers G20 :-
While playing some heavy games for hours we never faced any heating issue on this device, and noise was also almost negligible. All this is due to Asus innovative technology in which CPU’s heat is vented out of the top using an heat piping and radiator system technology, on the other hand Graphic cards heat is vented out from the back.
In this way CPU is getting cool and fresh air from its bottom and venting it out of the top and rear, in this way whole system remains under the manageable temperature and you will get less fan noise.
Upgrade Option On Asus Republic of Gamers G20 :-
The chasing of Asus Republic of Gamers G20 is tightly closed and if you managed to open it by removing philips screw then also its not easy to upgrade things in it, as told you earlier that its an small PC and Asus has utilized each and every corner of it and while upgrading you have to consider its size so that it can fit easily inside it.
Connectivity on Asus Republic Of Gamers G20 :-
For connectivity, Asus ROF 20 comes with WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth V4.0, in our test both performed very well and provids good download and uploading speed.
Performance Asus Republic Of Gamers G20 :-
To test the performance of Asus Republic Of Gamers G20 we install couple of games on it like Need For Speed Most Wanted Black Edition, GTA IV, Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Battlefield 3. If you hook this machine to a 1080p monitor then your viewing experience will be superb and nice.
To test its graphics, we edited a 15 minutes long video on Adobe After Effects CS6 with lots of effect on it and all went smoothly without any glitch, on the other hand when we launched Adobe Photoshop CS6 and edited a PSD file and then saved it to PNG, we didnt faced any glitch here as well.
Benchmark Scores :-
PCMark 8 :- 3613
Cinebench 15 :- 760
Final Word on Asus Republic Of Gamers G20 :-
If I say Asus Republic Of Gamers G20 is one of the sexiest gaming PC with its unique design and built quality then I dont think I am not wrong, if you are just going to buy your very first gaming PC then I will strongly suggest this, Asus Republic Of Gamers G20 to you.
Asus has nicely priced this device and its totally worth of its price. If you like to play full HD games then I am sure, Asus Republic Of Gamers G20 will not disappoints you. I used this PC for two weeks and in some occasions I was hoping that it would be nice if it has SSD.
I am also not happy with its power supplies, to get this keep running you have to attach two power cords which are not easy on some occasions.
At last I would say, its a good to start gaming PC, it performed well in our gaming and benchmark test and I am sure if you play 1080p games then its the one to start with. And how can I forget to say about its built quality, just try in a dark room and when you seen light coming out of its chasing you will feel like a real gamer.
