After Xiaomi has announced that they will be joining Make In India program and will start manufacturing their handsets in India, now another smartphone maker, Asus has announced their support for Make In India initiative and company will soon start the local manufacturing of its smartphones in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, for this Asus has joined hands with Foxconn.
Company will kick-start its manufacturing operations with Zenfone 2 Laser which will soon be followed by ZenFone Go. The company aims to manufacture 150,000 smartphones per month by the end of the current financial year which will account for almost 80% of sales in India.
Last month, at the first edition of Zen Festival in India, the company launched its brand new offerings – Zenfone Selfie (Review), Asus ZenFone 2 Laser (Review ZE550KL | Review ZE500KL) and Zenfone 2 Deluxe (Review). Zenfone 2 Laser, the first smartphone that will be manufactured in India, received good response in pre-booking stage and company had to prepone the sale date on Flipkart.
