We all know, dual camera trend is over, and we have seen smartphones with triple or quad cameras which do offers extra functionality like telephoto or wide angle shots, but these features comes in some of the high end smartphone which comes with hefty price, but there are some manufacturers who are working hard to bring these high end experience in your budget, recently we have seen Tecno Camon i4 & Infinix Samart 3 Plus, both comes with triple cameras and best part is these smartphones comes in sub 10K price tag. Now we have another smartphone which comes with triple camera and is prices under 10K the Infinix S4.
Build And Design Of Infinix S4 –
Infinix S4 comes with sleek design language, at first look, it is hard to believe that you are holding a sub 10K device, it has balance design, and the gradient design at the back seems to be attractive to us.
Infinix S4 is available in three color variants, Nebula Blue, Space Gray, and Twilight Purple and we have Nebula Blue review unit, which seems attractive than the rest.
The back panel do has gradient finish which looks nice, but it is made up of plastic and it is finger print magnet too, you can use a clear case which comes in the box to keep it clean.
At front you have a tear drop notch at the top of the big display, our review unit came with a pre-applied screen protector and it has another one in the box.
When it comes to connectivity and ports, on the right side you have volume rockers along with power on/off button, which seems to be little high, but they do provide good feedback.
On the left side you will find a hybrid SIM means you will have dual-SIM and microSD card slot there, at the bottom of it you will find a micro USB port, a speaker grille, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
At back you have triple AI camera which is its highlight as well, there is a quad LED as well, this is a setup which tough to find in this price range.
Just next to camera, you will find finger print sensor which is well placed and easy to reach, and it works like charm all of the time.
Hardware And Specs Of Infinix S4 –
When it comes to the under the hood features, then Infinix S4 is powered by MediaTek Helio P22 processor clocked at 2.0GHz along with the 3GB RAM and PowerVR GE8320 GPU, you have 32GB of internal storage which you can expand up to 256GB via micro SD card.
We have seen couple smartphone with this SoC at this price range like Realme C2 and Oppo A1k. It is an mediocre processor but it do allow you to run all of your day to day tasks easiy.
When it comes to connectivity, Infnix S4 supports Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi, dual 4G VoLTE, and GPS, it houses a 4000mAh battery and comes with a 10W charger in the box.
Display Of Infinix S4 –
Infinix S4 comes with an 6.26-inch HD+ display with screen resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels and has 19.5:9 aspect ratio with 500nit screen brightness. Outdoor visibility, is not an issue on this device, we were able to use this device in bright sunlight.
Infinix S4 can adjust brightness level automatically according to the environment, and brightness was not too harsh as well for your eyes.
Software & UI Of Infinix S4 –
When it comes to software front, the Infinix S4 runs on Android 9.0 Pie, wrapped under company’s custom UI XOS 5.0 on top of it, you will be able to find couple of customization here and there on it.
Along with fingerprint scanner, company has also provided face unlocking as well and it works very fine almost all of time, during our review, we have found both fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature fast and accurate.
In terms of bloatware, Infinix S4 comes with apps like XTheme, XClub, Phone Master, PHX Browser, Face Unlock, Flipkart, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Weather, Opera News and more, some of them can be uninstalled but major of these apps wont go away.
One app which is so annoying is PHX browser which send spammy notifications, but good part is, you can uninstall it.
Battery Of Infinix S4 –
Infinix S4 comes with 4000mAh battery which last for a day easily, during our review, we used WhatsApp, Google Maps, YouTube, Calling and Web Browsing, it lasted a full day with 26 percent battery still left.
Camera Of Infinix S4 –
Infnix S4 comes with triple camera setup at the back which not common to find in this price range, it has an 13MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle sensor with a 120 degree field of view, and the third camera is a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and along with this there is a Quad-LED flash, at front there is an 32-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and screen flash.
The camera app is simple to use, there are quick toggles for HDR, flash, button to switch to the wide-angle sensor, there are some other modes available as well like Beauty, Bokeh, Video, and AR Shot.
AI is enabled by default on this device which can detect toward what smartphone is pointed and can enhance the image by automatically adjusting the settings
The camera performance on this device is good for its price, it can focus quickly, when lighting condition is nice, it can take bright images with good amount of details on it in daylight, good color reproduction and good clarity.
You can also capture macro shots with it which will have nice colors and details on it.
When it comes to low light performance, then like all of its competitors, it struggles, images taken in low light turns to be grainy and has noise, so we will rate it as average.
The wide angle shots will not disappoint you at all, bookeh images seems to be good and it can blur out background nicely but edge detection is not that much great which is acceptable in this price.
At front you have 32MP front facing camera which is capable of taking good images with nice amount of details on it, we had tested it in outdoor and indoor conditions and images seems above average. It also has bookeh on front camera which again work fine.
Performance Of Infinix S4 –
When it comes to the performance of Infinix S4, we first need to understand that it is priced Rs. 8,999 and comes with a mediocre SoC, it is powered by MediaTek Helio P22 SoC along with 3GB of RAM, it can easily handle your day to day task like WhatsApp, Web Browsing, YouTube, Google Docs, PDF Reader, and so on.
We did not noticed any lag while using this phone for daily task, if you are planning to play games on it then we would suggest to play lighter games like Subway Surfer or Candy Crush, but if you wanna play high end games like PUBG which we tried, but unable to play even on low setting.
In terms of benchmarks, it score 74,556 on AnTuTu, 11fps in GFXBench, and 755 and 3,598 on Geekbench 4’s single-core and multi-core tests respectively.
Keeping in mind that it is an budget phone, performance is very good on it.
Final Verdict On Infinix S4 –
Infinix S4 is one of the handful devices which has triple rear camera and price below 10K, surely camera is its highlight and it do perform good in that section, wide angle shots are good for landscape images, macro shots are also good on it, however ow light images can be a take down here.
It also has nice display and battery life which can easily last a day, despite of its mediocre processor, it can handle your daily tasks easily, if you are an moderate users then yo wont have any issue with it.
