Last year OnePlus has faced hell lot of issue and problem when they entered Indian market with their OnePlus One which is CyanogenMod powered device and for India Cyanogen Inc. has sold their exclusive rights to Micromax’s sister company, YU. For some weeks there was a ban on the sell of OnePlus One which was later sort out. At that time OnePlus has announced that they will be coming up with their own OS which might hit market by February. And today company has teases its upcoming ROM which will be known as OxygenOS for global variant of devices and HydrogenOS or H2 OS for Chinese market.
This Hong Kong based company, OnePlus has entered into market last year with Oppo’s Color OS for Chinese market and with CyanogenMod for global market, but as they faced issue in some market they decided to dump support for third party OS and instead they decided to create their own OS which will be based on Android Lollipop.
In official forum company has said :-
As an element, Oxygen is the epitome of simplicity, yet it’s also extraordinarily powerful.
Oxygen is all around us. It’s part of us and everything we do. It creates the water that carves out valleys and moves mountains. By itself, it’s simple and pure—a fundamental building block. But, as a part of something greater, it can do amazing things. Just like us.
With our ROM, that means software that is open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features.
When we designed the One, we went back to the drawing board, creating a smartphone that offers a bold, powerful, straight-forward experience. And, that’s exactly what we plan to do with our ROM.
OnePlus One was able to create a lot of buzz, its even named as flagship killer device, and its due to its low price, high end specs and of course CyanogenMod OS which comes with simple UI, no crappy app and is highly customizable, so it will be interesting to see what OnePlus will include in its own ROM and will it support that level of customization which we had seen on CyanogenMod.
At this time its not clear how both OS, the OxygenOS and HydrogenOS will be different from each other but H2 OS will most like comes without GAPPS (Google Services and App) which we had seen in most of the Chinese ROM.
OnePlus has not provided any timeline for the launch of stable build of this ROM, however an alpha build is already up and if you want to test it then go to OnePlus forum and flash it on your device. Company has said that they will share some more information on 12 February.
