Last year Motorola has launched its entry level device, the Motorol Moto E, which has started a new battle of affordable smartphone which comes at very attractive price, in fact it was the best phone under 10K when it was launched.
Now its almost a year and its time for update, Motorola has launched its Second Generation Moto E which comes with some tweaks, some new design language and some features which were missing in last year’s Moto E. Let’s see is this device worth to buy.

Build And Design Of Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen :-
Moto E 2nd Generation looks very much similar to of last year’s Moto E, however it went under some changes like now Motorola is done with removable back panels and now it only comes with removable bands which sits surrounding device and hides your dual SIM slots and micro SD card slot as well.
You can change these device, and give some funky look to the device, like you can use green band on your white Moto E and so on. These rubberized bands provide extra grip to the device.
Front of the device is mostly taken by 4.7 inch display which is bigger than its predecessor, but has same resolution of 540×960 pixels which provides pixel density of 245ppi, screen is again protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
In last year’s Moto E, we have seen two speakers placed at the front, but here its only one speaker which also workd as your earpiece. Just next to it, you will find your front camera which was not there in last years Moto E.
If we talk about connectivity and ports then on right side you will find your Volume Rockers followed by your Power And Sleep button, here Motorola has used metallic buttons which feels nice in hand.
At bottom you have primary microphone along with your Micro USB port for charging, there is nothing of left side of the device.
At top you have a 3.5mm audio jack for your headphone. At back you will find a 5MP auto focus camera, check camera sample below. In this variant also, Motorola has skipped LED flash which means images taken under low light will have noise.
Hardware of Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen :-
If we talk about under the hood feature the Motorola Moto E 2nd Generation is powered by quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 1GB of RAM of which you will get around 490MB of free RAM for on first boot, it has got 8GB of internal memory which can be expandable up to 32GB via microSD card, apart from 8GB you will get around 4.5GB for your usage.

At back it has a 5MP auto focus camera and which can record HD videos, and at front it has got a VGA camera, for connectivity it features LTE/3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and Micro USB.
Software Of Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen :-
Motorola Moto E 2nd Generation comes with almost stock Android 5.0 Lollipop, yes almost as Motorola has included some of its app on this device like Motorola Migrate which lets you transfer your contents from old phone to this wirelessly, there is a Moto app which lets you customize your your phone and there is a Motorola Alert which lets you share your location with family or friends. Apart from this you will get pure Android Lollipop experience on it.
Display of Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen :-
Moto E 2nd Gen features an 4.7inch qHD display screen which is an enhancement from last year but if we take a look on other devices available at same price like Lenovo A6000 or Xiaomi Redmi 2, both offers HD display screen. However screen is sharp and colors are vibrant, it do provides nice viewing angles.
Camera Of Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen :-
Motorola Moto E comes with same 5MP camera but now it supports ta to focus which is a good enhancement from fixed focus which we have seen on last year Moto E however it still misses LED flash, Motorola has also introduced front facing camera which was missing in last year’s Moto E.
Images takes under bright day seems to come out nice, but it still missed sharpness, if you take images indoors then it have lots of noises. Another thing which Motorola has introduced is that it no support HD recording.
Battery of Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen :-
Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen comes with 2390 mAh battery which delivers nice feedback to you, in our test it lasted a day on heavy usage, non HD display surely helps here.
Performance of Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen :-
As told earlier, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 1GB of RAM which is not a powerful SoC but thanks to the no skin OS, we found UI very smooth and fast, normal games like Subway surfer, Temple Run or Angry birds were smooth on it but when it comes to heavy games like Asphalt 8, it lags.
Here are some benchmark test :-
Antutu :- 17462
NeNaMark2 :- 50.8fps
Multi-Touch :- 5
Final verdict Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen :-
Surely Motorola has improved its Moto E from last year with arger battery, display, new design and camera, however we think camera is one section in which Motorola has improved a bit more and display is another section in which Motorola could have improved a bit more. In the same price tag you could find HD display devices.
However Moto E is the only device at this price tag which comes with stock Android 5 Lollipop, if you want latest OS then Moto E could be your choice.
